TouchOne 0.2.2 Alpha

Made some bugfixes in the main app and widgets.

Fixes include:

Widget Updates:
* The weather widget would incorrectly tell the user that a location was an invalid entry. This is fixed. If you are trying to set the weather location while the widget is getting the weather, it will give you a message now, so that you can try again in a moment. The widget works with all international cities, this has been confirmed.
* The calendar no longer shows an “over” blurry red outline for dates with an appointment, this only affected WQVGA/SQVGA/QVGA and lower resolutions.

TouchOne Updates:
* When loading, custom screen shortcuts were being drawn off screen due to the application starting up in a different orientation than it closed in. This is now fixed. When your settings are loaded, it will check to see if the icons should be transposed to landscape or portrait mode.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Please be sure to read the installation and upgrade instructions when you download.

Thanks :)

Hello, thanks so much for this cool UI. It’s easier and better than what I tried by SPB.
I met one problem is when I used calendar, this will show error message and shut down “Touch One”. On other hand, most icons are disappeared on main page…..
My WM phone is HTC Touch Dual (Niki), OS is WM 6.0, ROM is 1.65.29.22.
    BTW, it lag sometime…..
    appreciate for your all work!!

First thanks for the cool program, I’m lov’n it. The bug I am encountering is when I attempt to use windows media player. Whether from the short cut or from streaming meia. It opens tp play and then as soon as the vid starts I get my today screen and player vanishes. Am I missing something simple or what? Again I love the apps look, feel and ease, Thanks.
    John

Added information. I am using a Samsung Saga with windows6.1. When I first installed and booted Touchone it told me that there were other programs creating a Today page conflict and asked if Touch should fix the problem…well Yes of course.
I don’t have a problem with Opera nor my MP3 player, at present it appears to be isolated to Window Media Player…. Think I’ll download and try another media player.

i have just downloaded 0.2.2 alpha, following your instructions, but after doing a soft reset, the phone says it’s loading installed apps, but then goes to a white screen saying error. how do i fix this? i’m using an omnia 2 on 6.5

    • Dehx says:

      What does the error say?

      • Graeme says:

that’s all it says! white screen, ‘error’ is written in the top left hand corner, ‘details’ is written in the middle at the bottom of the screen and ‘quit’ is written at the bottom right. the only thing you can do from here is press ‘quit’, nothing happens if you press ‘details’.

    I love it very much!

I think it’s better than Manila.

Hi! Maybe you remember me from ppcgeeks trying the first release!!!
I have to say that this shell is really fast, I have tried “Infinity” that is in the same alpha situation but Touch one is much faster than Infinity.

Maybe you need some help, you should make a thread in xda-developers… and ask people to make some widgets if you release some info.

Some problems with the clock (weather icons not showing… but temperature yes)
Also the calendar numbers stay having that red background, and I don’t know why. Becouse I have not an appointment in each day of the year.

    Many thanks for your job!!

It looks fantastic. One issue I have discovered……

I can no longer follow emailed links. It opens the do you want to follow this link for a millisecond, but then the phone goes back to the today screen without opening the link.

    Keep up the great work.

I tested also with my phone which is in HVGA, only the V_0.13 told me that this screen size not supported, all other Version dont inform me and show me only a blank screen. it would be nice to support this screen dimension.

  12. Tjoho says:

    Hi

I think your app looks great, but i got a windows mobile 6.5.3 with an HVGA screen. Is there a possibility you could make it work with HVGA ? and other HVGA phone owners would be forever greateful, since there are almost zero themes that support HVGA

    Best Regards
    Tjoho

    • Dehx says:

HVGA? What phone do you have?

I would be happy to provide that in the next release. But please give me a model to look at.

Samsung Omnia II. When I installed 0.2.2.a I can’t turn on the widgets. When I try clicking on any of the check box it goes to a blank home screen. I tried going back to an earlier version that use to work and have the same problem.

    • Dehx says:

When it returns you to a blank screen, hold down for about a half a second and it will place the widget. Right now the Omnia II seems to not behave wtih the vibrate code, which, in laymans terms means that it will not vibrate when repositioning anything: I am looking into this, but until I find a solution I recommend following the instructions in the user guide, but not counting on the vibrate to happen. I will try my best to have a fix for this soon, but the Omnia II seems to not get along with the same vibration API that I use for every other phone.

      Thanks for the feedback.

      • recknmb says:

Thanks, I seem to have every thing working ok.
But! When I rotate my phone to landscape the top row of icons move and wind up on top of the clock. I am using a full set of 12 icons below the clock.
        Thanks
        Mike
        Omnia II

        • recknmb says:

I forgot to mention when I rotate back to vertical I have to move the icons off the clock back to the top row. Some times only the three right icons move and sometimes all four move.

          • Dehx says:

How exactly do you have the screen layed out? The clock on top and six icons across the bottom?

    Great !!!
Weather widget works now correctly with European cities. Wonderful.
(Weather picture look a little bit squeezed. Sun and moon aren’t really round. My be a little solution problem with WVGA on Samsung Omnia).

No problems and no errors. Wonderful.

Widget “MyPix” should be have on settings to input the right folder, if all pictures on card or special storage and not on device.

TouchOne works very easy and very fast.
After a new start there is a little problem with S2U2. It takes a long time because of the refreshing applications. I wrote about You want to delete the automatic refresh on restart? It’s would be better. The Refresh in the settings works now very good.

  18. Dehx says:

    @Dehx:
Thanks. That explains what is causing the error.

  19. Dehx says:

@Amarus: What phone hardware are you running on?

    • Amarus says:

Running on HTC Opal (a.k.a Touch Viva), tried it on a couple different 6.5.3 custom roms and the same thing happens.
I’ll install again to give you the exact debugging info.
      Thanks for your support :)

      • Amarus says:

        Here’s the error:

    First of all, great work.
While I’m not currently using TouchOne, I’ve been trying each version to check if it’s stable enough for me.

Right now, my main issue is the fact that using the d-pad seems to crash TouchOne. Some function throws a null reference exception on the second d-pad press, it’s easily reproducible.

And I’m also waiting till sdk is complete. I don’t know if I’ll have the time to contribute something, but this will turn into something amazing with proper widgets.

Again, thanks for this great project! Keep up the great work! :D

@Brian: found 1 more – cannot acces my call log through the green button on my Treo Pro any more, and when I use the keyboard to pull up names to call, it doesn’t work and in some cases (n) it doesn’t display but thinks I’m trying to change the theme..

  22. Brian says:

Dehx – Thank you. I should have posted this when 0.2 came out. 3 issues:

The clock does not keep the time unless I hit “settings> refresh applications”.
The Mypix widget is smaller than in 1.x.
I can’t access the task manager program from my start bar anymore either.

Otherwise I’m happy with the progress – keep up the good work and looking forward to the sdk.

  23. apache says:

Good Work! A bit slow and confusing, but considering this is an alpha it is very nice!

  24. kaptix says:

This is by far the best interface for windows mobile in existence. I would personally like to say thanks!
